Johnson is also a professor of psychology at UC Berkeley, where she directs the Cal Mania (CALM) Program, with extensive research on the psychosocial factors in bipolar disorder funded by the National Institute of Mental Health. Together, they have made this long-established text — now in its fifteenth edition — one of the most rigorously scientific and clinically relevant abnormal psychology resources in the field.
